Gearing up for The Girl Who Played With Fire
  • As we head into another weekend at the movies, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo continues to shine. The film has brought in over 5.25 million so far in the U.S and $93 million worldwide. Of course, the phenomenon that is the literary Millennium Trilogy of Stieg Larsson, that started it all, has grown as well with over 40 million book copies sold to date around the globe.

Even so…it’s hard for all of us Lisbeth Salander fans to stop looking toward the flame that’s barreling towards us. The second film from Sweden – based on the second book in the Trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire, is set to release (by us, Music Box Films) in select markets on July 2nd and nationwide (U.S.) on July 9th.

In THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE Mikael Blomkvist is about to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well-known and highly placed members of Swedish society. On the eve of publication, the two investigating reporters are murdered and the fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to Lisbeth Salander.

At Music Box Films, we’re busy preparing The Girl Who Played with FIRE website…and a new campaign/contest to go with it. Can’t reveal all of the details…but chew on this – amazing internship opportunities for those of you who love all things Dragon Tattoo and the Millennium Trilogy. Details coming soon!
