Stieg Larsson wrote Dragon Tattoo out of guilt?
  • Gotta say, that’s some seriously strong guilt.

ABC currently has a feature highlighting Kurdo Baksi’s Stieg Larsson: Our Days in Stockholm which is a memoir that will be published soon. Baksi is an old friend. Allegedly.

According to Baksi, Larsson witnessed a gang rape of a girl named Lisbeth when he was 15, didn’t stop it and out of guilt wrote the Millennium Trilogy. But, the article hints at more info on Larsson’s life and how it contributed to the books.

The claims Baski makes in the book are sensational to say the least. And it’s a little hard for this Stieg Larsson to swallow them smoothly. Why? Let’s review:

    • Larsson is dead.
    • He can’t defend, affirm or contradict any of these claims.
    • If Larsson had wanted these things known, maybe he would have said something before he passed?
    • Or written about it?
    • Do good friends tell all of your secrets to the world to make money?
    • Eva Gabrielsson, Larsson’s lifetime partner, has not said a word about any of this information.

In the end, I’m sure the biography will be a fascinating read. But will it resemble the truth? Will it answer the questions that we’re dying to get? How can it? The man with the real answers…is gone.

One Response and Counting...

I’ve been at odds with anything that’s been published about Stieg Larsson’s life. I find myself wondering what’s propaganda and what’s truth–craving for more, but concerned about the validity of what I’m reading.

    Thanks!
